About Lucia

Texas artist, Lucia Guerriero, has been painting, drawing and designing for over 40 years. Her Christian faith informs and inspires all of her work, particularly the cross and crown motifs representing Jesus Christ and the belief that we are all “King’s Daughters” as depicted in Proverbs 31.

Through her mother, Lucia’s family is directly descended from Francois Boucher, court painter to Louis XIV, and Lucia’s trips to Italy and France have provided rich inspiration and classical background to her designs and artisanal style. Lucia’s parents were dedicated to supporting arts organizations in Dallas and New Orleans, and her father was co-founder of the Dallas Opera. Lucia’s mother served on the boards of the Dallas Symphony Guild and the Dallas Ballet, and filled their social life with artists and designers who encouraged Lucia’s talent from an early age.

After graduating from the Hockaday School in Dallas, Lucia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dallas, then studied and trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and subsequently earned a Master’s of Fine Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She trained with Chapman Kelley, and studied in prestigious summer arts programs such as The Arts Student League in New York and the Kansas City Art Institute. During her formal training, she participated in juried art shows in San Francisco, Denver, Houston, Seattle and New York, and was one of three artists chosen by Sol Levin to show at his 504 Gallery in New York.

In 1984, during the National Presidential campaign, Lucia was one of four calligraphers chosen for White House duty under Mrs. Ronald Reagan. One of her cherished

possessions from that period of time is her Secret Service identification card. Her calligraphy clients have included numerous corporations, churches, restaurants and civic organizations. She has designed logos for the Dallas Symphony, DIFFA, Kings Daughters Ministries, Susan G. Komen St Louis, the Dallas Opera Ball, the Junior Leagues of Philadelphia, St. Louis, New Orleans and Dallas, the Cattle Baron’s Ball, Presbyterian Hospital and Neiman Marcus. Lucia’s calligraphy artistry has earned her the reputation as one of the top wedding and creative special event calligraphers in Texas. Her client list past and present includes Mrs. Nancy B. Hamon, the late Senator John Tower, Mrs. Pollard Simons, Mrs. David Jansen and Mrs. Ross Perot. Lucia served as Vice President of the Texas Fine Arts Association which supports various youth art programs throughout the Texas public school system. Her proudest accomplishment is being a mother to her son, Burk, who is a photographer living and working in the Hill Country.

Lucia Guerriero’s company “Callabliss” comes from her love of Calla lilies and calligraphy. She lives and paints out of her studio in Fort Worth, Texas
